It’s not the usual water spray that comes out of a whale’s spout in the ocean. It’s wild, weird, and wonder-full stuff. If a silly whale is swimming in a lot of desserts, it’ll shoot chocolate syrup. Or it could be swimming in purple Jello, or in black ink. Maybe it will be swimming in yellow cheese and spout string cheese. Or maybe swimming in shampoo and shooting out bubbles. In the end Ms. Ozmore suggests that the reader could imagine things that the whale could swim in and shoot strange things out of its spout. Eugene Ruble’s artwork is over the top, completely silly, colorful, wild and crazy. Kids will find a lot of silly things to point out and talk about. The author’s suggestion at the end offers kids a fun interactive outlet for their rich imaginations. Suggested reader age is 4 through 9. ~Reviewed by: Penelope Anne Cole- Award Winning Author of Magical Matthew, Magical Mea, Mágico Mateo (Spanish), “Ten Little Tricksters”.
